Why this exists
San Francisco built the future. Now it gets to fund the part that keeps us human.
San Francisco leads, then everyone follows
The Beats, the Summer of Love, gay liberation, the Mission murals, Burning Man, the warehouse scene and the internet all started here. This city has spent seventy years deciding what the rest of the country will care about next. That is a responsibility worth using well.
We built the technology that changes everything
AI came out of this region and it will reshape work, art and daily life. The people building it understand its full potential better than anyone, and many of them are asking the same question the rest of us are asking. What will be the lasting legacy of our time?
The next wave of philanthropy funds social connection
Every era of giving has a defining cause. Libraries defined one century and public health defined another. This one belongs to belonging. Funders who move now, especially those closest to AI, will be remembered as the people who invested in what makes us human.
The movement is already here
Chess clubs, bike crews, improv troupes, cave raves, tea tribes, bird walkers, futurist workshops, giant sculpture builds, repair cafés, neighborhood family clubs, dance floors and third spaces of every kind. From the Sunset to Oakland to Marin to the South Bay, thousands of people gather their neighbors every week and they are ready to grow.
Social connection is infrastructure
We fund roads, transit and fiber as a matter of course, and the social layer deserves the same commitment. As automation takes on more of the work, human expression, creativity, play and connection become the most valuable things we make. Cities that invest here first will simply be better places to be alive.
What we are
A curated, searchable marketplace where community builders list once and funders find the work they personally love. It is built for meaningful gifts of roughly $10K to $10M, whether that means one community backed deeply or a handful across the region doing the same beautiful thing.
Rooted in SF, open to the whole Bay
We are proudly San Francisco first and regionally inclusive across Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Marin, the Peninsula and the South Bay. Connection travels freely across county lines, and so does this marketplace.
Part of a national movement
We align with the Chamber of Connection, a coalition of leaders across America protecting what makes us human, our connection to each other. Their research maps the opportunity and this marketplace moves the money.
