San Francisco Bay Area
Back the next evolution of San Francisco.
A renaissance of social connection is happening across the Bay Area. But the builders are critically underresourced and the support infrastructure is siloed.
The region building the AI engine must resource its own soul.
Find what you love. Fund it to flourish.
Social connection is the major cause of our time.

- 1,000s
- of clubs, crews, choirs, workshops, dance floors and third spaces are alive across the Bay Area right now, a grassroots renaissance growing every month.
- $10K to $10M
- is the range of gifts this platform is built for, so a meaningful commitment reaches the people gathering your neighbors this season.
- $1T+
- of private wealth sits in this region. Directing a fraction of it toward human connection would remake daily life here within a decade.
Why it compounds
When people feel connected, everything a city invests in starts working.
People who feel invested in their neighborhood show up for it. Classrooms fill with kids whose families know each other. Health improves and costs settle. Theaters sell out and galleries buzz. Transit carries people to places they want to be. Volunteering, voting and everyday neighborly repair all rise together. Funding connection upstream makes every civic dollar downstream go further.
Connection and belonging are critical infrastructure and deserve investment as such. We are building that movement, and having a great time doing it.
Why now
The people with the means to help want to, and now they have a place to start.
This is the first system that matches what you genuinely care about with the local groups already doing that exact thing. Fund community groups, clubs, artists, venues, hobbies and activities, the real human things, in the neighborhoods you move through every week.
When San Francisco does this first, every other city gains a model to follow, and the economic story changes so artists and community builders are resourced like the infrastructure they are.

The story
What will be the lasting legacy of our time? Social connection is the answer, and this city is the place to prove it.
San Francisco has always gone first.
The Beats, the Summer of Love, Harvey Milk, Burning Man, the Castro, the Mission murals, the warehouse parties and the internet itself all began here. When this city decides something matters, the country follows within a decade. That is a track record worth using on purpose.
We built the technology that changes everything.
AI came out of this region and it will reshape work, art and daily life. The people closest to it understand its full potential better than anyone, which is exactly why so many of them are asking what our lasting legacy will be. The most human answer is to invest in each other.
The next wave of philanthropy funds social connection.
Every era of giving has a defining cause. Libraries built one century, public health built another. This century belongs to belonging. Social connection is the major cause of our time, and the people who fund it now will be remembered as the ones who kept the human part of the future intact.
The movement is already alive in every neighborhood.
Chess clubs and bike crews. Improv troupes and cave raves. Tea tribes, bird walkers, futurist workshops, giant sculpture builds, neighborhood family clubs, block parties, makerspaces, dance floors and libraries of things. Across San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Marin and the Peninsula, thousands of people gather their neighbors every week. They are ready to grow the moment someone resources them.
Connection is infrastructure, so let us fund it like infrastructure.
Cities fund roads, transit and fiber as a matter of course. Social connection deserves the same deliberate investment. As machines take on more of the work, human expression, creativity, play and connection become the most valuable things we make together. That is the whole point of building a city.
This is San Francisco's to lead.
The city that builds the future can also show the world how a modern place resources belonging. We start here, spread across the whole Bay Area, and give every other city a model worth copying.
How it works
We flipped it. Community builders offer opportunities, and funders choose the ones they love.
Community builders list once
One form covers what you make, who it gathers, what you need and what backers get in return. A chess club and a 200 person theater walk through the same open door.
List your communityFunders find what they love
Search by neighborhood, cause, community served and check size. Back one community deeply, or spread your support across the region with one in the Mission, one in Oakland and one in Marin.
Browse the marketplaceWe make the introduction
Request an intro and we connect you directly with the humans running the work. Your support goes straight to the room full of people it was meant for.
Find your peopleFor community builders
Tell the city what you are building, and let the city back you.
Maybe you run a twelve person bird walk in the Presidio, a warehouse dance floor in Oakland, a Berkeley repair café, or a theater company touring the whole region. Tell us what you make, what you need and what backing you looks like. Money, space, gear, volunteers and legal help all count. Your listing goes live where funders are already looking.

For funders
Fund your vision of how this city creates, plays and connects.
This is built for meaningful gifts of roughly $10K to $10M. Go deep on one community, or pick a theme you love and back a handful of them across the region with one in San Francisco, one in Oakland and one on the Peninsula. Every listing tells you what your gift creates, what you receive in return and how hands on the team wants you to be.

We stand with the Chamber of Connection, a coalition of leaders across America protecting what makes us human, our connection to each other.
Their 2026 State of Connection report shows how much room there is to grow. Millions of Americans are ready for more time together, more one to one relationships and neighbors they can count on. The research is clear and the movement is here. SF Connection Fund is the Bay Area answer and the money layer beneath it.

Connection is infrastructure. Somebody gets to fund it. In San Francisco, that is us.
